Music or Media Not Playing with Alexa

Wi-Fi connectivity issues can cause media and music to buffer or not play.

To solve most streaming issues:

  • Reduce Wi-Fi congestion by turning off any connected devices that you're not using.
  • Move your device away from walls, metal objects, or sources of interference like microwave ovens and baby monitors.
  • Move devices on the floor to a higher location.
  • Connect to your router's 5 GHz channel.
  • Restart your device and network hardware (like a modem and router).
  • Verify that your network firewall has the following ports open:
    • 123
    • 443
    • 4070
    • 5353
    • 33434
    • 40317
    • 49317

For podcasts:

  • Ensure that your podcast service is supported on Alexa.
