Lovely book for beginners to crystals. A lot if information. Only reason I've not given full stars us because the website recommendations are American sites but the book was published there so understandable. Definitely recommend this book.
I accidentally downloaded this book, but now realize there are no accidents but divine intervention. I read this book cover to cover, then attended a gem & mineral show. Information in this book helped me focus & balance my energy. I had no knowledge of this subject but was immediately intrigued after getting this book. Now crystals, aroma therapy & meditation is a part of my daily life.
I love that this book goes into details for newbies like me, about cleansing and just about every question I have as a beginner! What I don’t like is it doesn’t give pictures or details into much crystals or types! Great beginner book with details on where to start but I needed another for more info on the crystals!
For someone new to the specific uses and care of crystals, this is a great introductory book. I really like how it's organized and designed; it's extremely easy to use and a pleasure to the eye. It reviews the basic information: shapes, colors, chakras, grids, intentions, cleansing, cleaning, storing and even safety (some gems contain toxic elements). All of this information is extremely helpful, practical and enjoyable to read.
I only have two complaints: the print quality and amount of crystals. Most nonfiction books intended to be frequently referenced have glossy paper for better image quality and durability; this book doesn't, taking away crispness from the print and pictures. Also, this is nit-picky but I found a typo on page 102, "receiving (dominant) hand" (the book says everywhere else that dominant hand is giving and non dominant hand is receiving).
The second thing, which I knew before purchasing, is that this book only describes 50 crystals. I thought that wouldn't bother me because I'm still new to crystals, but if you've been researching and browsing online about crystals beforehand, this book comes up a little short. It even has an identification table in the back with 101 crystals, 51 that the book doesn't describe. Honestly, that feels like a bit of a tease; why not write about those crystals too? Also, I appreciate that Frazier provides websites, books and apps for extra reference, but some of them don't exist anymore.
In conclusion, I learned a lot from this book, and it's an enjoyable read. However, for the price, I think the paper quality and amount of crystal identifications could be better, especially when there are books for $2 more with 200+ identifications. I've found MoonriseCrystals.com is a great accessible source of additional information, organizing by color, zodiac sign and chakra.
I used to own this book a long time ago, but someone “borrowed” it and never returned it. I hadn’t even really had the chance to get to know the book yet. I’d apparently forgotten the limited content until I purchased it again recently, here on Amazon. It’s a good book for true beginners, don’t get me wrong. But if you want info on more than the simplest, most common crystals, this may not be for you. I’m now on the hunt for a book with a much more expansive list of crystals and their properties, as well as color variants. The book arrived quickly and with no damage.
I have a metaphysical shop and am a Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher with a deep live for stones & Crystals. I teach a class for beginning crystal hounds. I discovered that this book contained every stone I talk about in my beginners class! So I started keeping this book at my shop for others to use as a reference. I love love love this book! It is perfect for beginners.
