I used the product for the sidelights by my front door. I like the design and the privacy it provides as well as the diffused light that enters the foyer. My main complaint is if you trim the edges a fraction of an inch too large in a few weeks the film starts to come away from the glass and you see bubbles along the edge. I was very careful to clean the glass first, and sufficiently wet the entire area with the soap solution and remove all air bubbles when it was applied, so I am totally disappointed that this is happening now. Also, if you cut the film too short you can see thru the edges of the glass. There is a very fine line of accuracy that needs to be used and a very sharp blade to do the trimming.
Be forewarned VERY see through for items close to it. Did not hide anything it is extremely see through for that purpose. It did not work for my needs I had to buy black contact paper to put ontop of this to make it not see through yet still show rice paper design because white contact paper turned at all white. Not the zen look I was hoping for.
I bought this to place on the sidelights by the front door. I wanted a measure of privacy. I used an exacto knife and cutting was a breeze. I cleaned the window, sprayed water on the window, per directions, peeled the backing off the window film, placed it on the window and used the smoothing tool to remove bubbles. It looked great...for 2 days. Then I noticed it was peeling off of the window. I reapplied water, smoothed it out, and later it peels off again. This a recurring problem.
In my opinion the film is too thick and not translucent enough. In a south facing window, the firm is already peeling back from one corner after a month and half. Also, the film shrinks back from the edges after several days.
I bought eight to cover some sliding glass doors. Although no difference was noted on the packaging, three were smooth and five were slightly textured. The differences in texture made the seams more noticeable. If I had received all smooth or all textured, I would have given the film a higher rating. It goes on easily and looks nice (I liked the textured film better).
But after a couple of months, the edges were all peeling up. I ended up taking it down when they would not stick down permanently. It was nice when it lasted! The diffused light was quite lovely, and the extra privacy much appreciated.
So I really needed this because I have a very awkward window next to the door in my apartment that shows everything in your house. I thought it was a little longer, which is why I highly recommend measuring the window and checking the product specifications to ensure you have enough. I was not prepared and had to order a second one. The design is also just ok, nothing glamorous, kind of looks like a bunch of worms or squiggly marks. It was easy to apply and provides privacy in the sense, you can't see exactly what's going on but blurry shadows instead, even at night. Overall I would recommend this product if you are looking for something kind of simple that blends in. It is not a statement piece of decor.
