These definitely run large. I had to buy a size smaller than my usual size (unfortunately, I started a size larger and had to go through three sizes before I got the right size!). Even a size smaller, they are a bit too roomy in the hips/thighs but fit well otherwise. Higher in the waist than I prefer (I like low or mid-waist pants, I'm sad they have mostly gone out of fashion). I'm slightly over 5 feet tall, and the length is pretty good for me. The front thigh pockets with velcro flaps, though nice to have, are not particularly flattering. Would rather have side cargo-style pockets. However, I am happy to find petite size convertible pants, which are difficult to find!
Due to the elastic waist can order down a size unless your thighs are really thick than stay with your usual size. I am between a 12/14 in jeans and a 12 in this pant was fine. The talls fit my 5'10" frame perfectly. Looked good on I didnt find it to be bunchy around the waist like some other reviewers mentioned. These are very thin pants so maybe better for a warmer climate- I needed an under layer while hiking in Alaska this summer. Wasnt crazy about the velcro at bottom but does make pant leg easier to get off without removing hikers if zipping off the leg. Overall worked as expected and very functional for hiking/sports.
I'm inseam 29", waist 26", hips 36". Pant size ordered 4 short returned for 2 short. Size 2 short length inseam good. Waist fit good, just below natural waist so very comfortable. Material very light weight for hot boating/fishing/hiking weather. Can hook up ankle length for water wading. More pockets than most ladies pants but only 1- pocket in back. Would prefer 2-pockets in back like men's pants have. Don't know why manufactures think ladies have less to carry when we actually have more.
I really love the fabric as I was looking for something with a quick dry feature. I ordered a 12 long, which is my normal size but the jury is out for now. I may order another in a size 10 as this feels slightly too big. The inseam was perfect for me though at 5'8". Lots of pockets!
I have narrow hips and a thick middle so not ideal for my shape with high waist. I had hoped they would work but was bummed they didn't. I'm a 14 or a 16 but a 16 in these would have been too baggy on my hips and fit middle. If you have a bit of belly but a natural waistline unlike me then the high waist would be a great fit for you. I did love the discreet cords at the ankle that can be used and aren't seen if not used ...no other pants I own have them and would have been great to taper ankle or keep ticks out. In the end I sent back as I would like to wear more than when camping.
This brand of zip-off pants was recommended by a friend. The quality of workmanship and materials is excellent; however, there was no indication in the description that their products tend to run a full size smaller than the industry standard. That information would have been very helpful in the ordering process.
These are beautifully designed zip-off pants - the details at the bottom of the leg, being able to "blouse" them or to flare them, are nice touches. My only issue is that they are way too long - they seem like tall length even though there was no choice of length. If I decide to keep them, I will have to have them shortened & will lose the detail, but they fit well otherwise.
I am 5'2", 132 lb, generally muscular and fit but I carry my extra weight in my waist and have a narrow pelvis, so I'm pretty much the same width all the way down. I wanted comfortable, durable pants with lots of pockets, made of something that would breathe well and provide some warmth in cool evenings and mornings. These seem to fit the bill. The zip on/off function is a bonus and the pants seem well suited to a humid climate with a wide range of temperatures. The 8S is the right length, which I can't usually find. It's not really their fault they have 50% too much room and make me look dumpy. When the pant legs are zipped off, which they do pretty easily, the shorts are that awkward length ending an couple of inches above the knee that nobody ever looks good in; they look all right when I roll them up but probably won't stay that way. I really wish I had the 6S, but they would cost ~$20 more. Ladies: When reviewing clothing, please include information on your body type! Thank you.
