This is a waste of money. The exacto knife was missing its blade. A credit card works way better than the yellow plastic thing they give you. And soapy dishwater is as good as whatever is in the spray. Live and learn.
If you're going to apply window film, this product will make it a breeze (and make it look so much better!). I have done about 5 windows now. The first was without it - it was in my garage so I probably won't redo it, but the bubbles make it look like a mess from the exterior. My mom recommended this product so I used it for the remaining windows and wow - what a difference! Be careful with the cutter as I did slice open my finger, but that was my own fault for being careless. It's a necessary item to get the job done. The spray really helps with the bubbles as does the smoothing tool. Worth every penny if you want your windows to look good! They look like real etched windows now!
We didn't realize that the kit included the application solution as well, so we ended up with 2 spray bottles of the solution. Not a complete loss as the solution can be used as a window cleaner. The rest of the kit is pretty cheap and if you have an x-acto knife, a lint free cloth and straight edge to smooth out the bubbles, you should only order the solution.
Pretty overpriced for what it is, but works ok. Basically a 4 piece set if you're too lazy to piece it together, but individually you could get better parts and for less collectively. The blade that comes with it to cut window film works but no better than a thin exacto knife or something similar. Then the rest is pretty just a run of the mill spray bottle, and a soap and water solution works just the same. The scraper/squeegee is of dollar store variety, and the lint cloth wasn't used anyway.
The squeegee included is low quality/uneven, but with enough swipes, you can still get the bubbles out. The trim tool is hard to use because the blade is tiny (hard to cut corners). The low lint cloth included is good but too small to use on more than a couple of windows. The application spray solution included is great and the only good thing in this kit that doesn't have an issue. Having this kit made applying the vinyl window film easier, but I'm sure there are better kits out there.
The kit helped with the install of the film. Use the spray liberally on your window and both side of the film (spray sticky side first, apply and then spray film again when it's on the window to help with smoothing) for best results. Would recommend picking up a few other things to make the install process easier: A razor blade paint scraper ( for getting your windows super clean before installing), an Exacto knife( for tight corners), a squeegee (to help smooth on the film) and some scotch tape (to help peel off the backing from the film). Also, having someone to help you is a huge bonus and the film can be difficult to handle in tight spots and up ladders by yourself.
It works but a razor blade, exacto or utility knife will work and the plastic piece for smoothing the product and removing the air and water was less than satisfactory. The piece is made of to hard of a plastic and the edge was rough. I used a bathroom squeegee which was much faster and had better results.
