Comfortable but not as effective as I’d hoped

I took up running during the pandemic and managed to buy a sports bra from the same makers (a multisports model) on the last day the shops were open before lockdown. I am very happy with that one but recently saw that there are models specifically designed for running, so thought I had better get one of those. This one was mentioned in one of those “Top 10” type lists on the internet. It fits well, I can just about reach the behind the back fastening mechanism, the rubberised padding on the straps work well and it’s very comfortable to wear. However, having worn it on a 10K jog I did not think it stopped chest movement as well as the multisport model does. I think it is less compressive. I’m keeping it as back-up but will buy another multisport one from the same makers. Based on a follow up question, it is very difficult to close the plastic clasp and I have reduced the stars further from 3 to 2. It is very well made in many respects but for me it’s the Active Multisports Support model from the same makers every time.

The bra definitely limits movement that’s for sure. However the sizing is way off; I am a 32DD, and have been for years, in all brands. I read the reviews saying the band size was too small so I ordered a 34DD, as you can see from the picture it was still a lot smaller than my current Nike sports bra (Size M). I managed to do the strap up but it was so tight I couldn’t fully inhale a breath. As it does limit movement I have gone ahead and ordered another one but the active D+ range as it was still not fully supportive. I have had to order a 36 DD/D to try, even though I am a 32DD! But hopefully this works out better. I think this would work best if you had a cup size of C or under and for 2 band sizes up.

This bra is so hard to get on, I literally tweaked an arm muscle trying to reach over my head and clip the top part. (And I have the right size for me!) For that much work I would expect amazingness but honestly it doesn’t offer much more support than any other medium impact bra (I’m a 36B) and the top straps are SO stiff and hard and noticeably uncomfortable on my shoulders and collar bones as I am working out. Hard pass. Wouldn’t buy again. Shame.

used for horse riding, top catch uncomfortable with a back protector on, ran in it but no bounce control so had to stop running, pushed breasts into monoboob so not attractive, wouldn't buy again. Other styles by Shock Absorber e.g. D+CLASSIC much better for larger breasted women. Only bought this style as favourite not available.

Received this product on time which was fantastic as I brought it to replace my older running bra. I have always brought shock absorber bras as they give the correct support. Sadly the bra that arrived is way too small I ordered a 38dd (same size as my other 3 shock absorber bras) and couldn't even get the back done up. I am completely gutted about this.

Short!!

I don't really know why, but this bra dis not fit. I don't have any issues with other bras (normal or sports) but this was just not long enough between shoulder and the bottom of the cup, so it came down to the middle of my breast. I think if I had managed to get it on it would have been a small fit anyway. I searched and searched for a way of extending it, other than the obvious, and am genuinely flummoxed. I've had SA bras before (different style, admittedly) which were fine but this was just not going to cut the mustard. So, item returned and Triumph Tri-Action Extreme Sports Bra purchased instead. I would go and try one on in a store somewhere if possible before buying it to make sure it fits. It's a real shame because it's a hefty piece of kit and you can tell it's designed to keep everything firmly in place. Disappointed, to say the least.

Did not like this AT ALL. I'm returning it as it did not reduce bounce more than my Freya active medium control, and unlike that this Shock Absorber Ultimate Run bra squashed my assets into a mono-boob, no separation and hence an uncomfortable and very unattractive shape. I had originally ordered a 30F from a different source but couldn't even try that on as the band was too small (I have been fitted and my chest measurement is exactly 30"; previous sports bras and my normal lingerie are all perfectly fitted) this was a 32 and extremely tight to the point of restricted breathing. Very disappointed. I want up, round and firm and sadly this did not deliver on fit, shape, comfort or bounce! Two stars because of swift delivery and the ease of return.

I bought this on recommendation from a friend but didn’t realise how small it come up or I’d have gone 2 sizes bigger. I can barely breathe. I’m a 32DD. The cup size is spot on but the strap around my chest is about 4 inches too tight. I measured it to be about 20 something inches not even in the 30’s, and it doesn’t give much, certainly a poor choice. I’d go for try before you buy if I were to do it again.

Stitching comes away easily

Having worn this for a couple of months, the stitching came away on the hooks sections of the bra which are actually attached separately rather than being one piece. I had to manually sew them back down. I had to also do this for the hooks and hoops themselves which also started coming away. The metal hooks also bend very easily and I have to push them back down and reshape then from time to time. I also find the hooks come out of their "rungs" on the vertical straps when doing certain gym classes such as yoga, or during rock climbing. In that respect I much prefer the old velcro system. I've reduced the 5 star rating to 2 as a result of this.

Following the advice I'd seen from other reviews on other sports bras I went up a bra size and down a cup size - and still this was like putting on a badly fitting wet suit. You break into a sweat just trying to get into it and the clasps are really uncomfortable on your back, particularly I would imagine if part of your gym routine consists of floor work. There are better (and cheaper) sports bras available in my opinion.
