The texture is not as plastic at all, but it's not very breathable and it repels sweat, leaving it on the skin and the sheets instead of helping the air flow. I haven't tried it with fluids, I bought it because I'm pregnant and I want to save my mattress if my water breaks while sleeping, or after the birth with breastmilk, etc., but I don't like how it sounds and feels under the sheets. It makes a silent whoosh sound to the touch and makes the fitted sheet move a lot, so it's a bit harder to make the bed.
I guess it's better quality than others, but it's not the best thing in the market.
It's surprisingly well designed and fits well on a 15" thick mattress. I noticed as soon as I got on it that it it makes a crinkling sound. Even after washing it the sound persists. It also loosens throughout the night on my plush mattress and leaves indents on my skin (presumably from it folding over on itself). Lastly, the backing is a plastic material that that slips on my factory mattress cover. My cat likes to pee on my bed when he's mad at me and this protector did save my new mattress on the first night. I'm currently in the market for a new one that breathes.
I didn’t use this for too long, it wasn’t very comfortable to sleep on, as it made noise(like you were sleeping on a bag) and it made me VERY sweaty. It was middle of winter, and room would be set slightly cool, but I would still wake up sweaty. Took it off, and problem gone. However mattress never got wet/ sweat stained so that’s a plus for the water resistance. Not sure how well it would hold up if water spilled or kid peed on it tho as I didn’t use it long enough to encounter those issues.
I bought this to replace an old mattress cover to help with dustmites and allergies. The msterials of this cover appear to be cheaper than my previous, the too is a bit stiff so you can feel it a bit through the sheets and in line with that, it’s not completely noiseless as advertised.
I get the impression that this would be sufficient to hold off leaks but i’m not convinced it would actually be waterproof, just because the materials aren’t super high quality.
That said, you get what you pay for, and the price I paid was acceptable
It's a decent cover and I'm sure it does a good job at protecting the mattress. Thankfully no spills as of yet. What I dont like is that it can make you rather sweaty. Heat cant transfer to the mattress so you end up with clammy clothes if you sweat at all. I'll be putting a towel between the sheet and cover so I dont wake up with my skin all irritated as my clothes are damp.
Haven’t tested the leak proof but I imagine it is not 100% effective because it does not completely enclose the mattress. It is fitted. I was actually expecting a full enclosure. Not sure how well it cools because my partner is still sweating excessively through his night clothes, but at least it isn’t soaking through to the mattress. It is quiet though, no rustling. I did purchase this protector based on a positive review posted online.
Initially looks good, fits well, seems like it would protect mattress well. But due to material, found it changed the feel of the bed. Didn’t allow to sink in as much because of waterproof seal. Can’t use it, had to get another (albeit likely less leak proof) one
