Hello. I am 5'5 and 300 lbs. I wanted to write a review because normally I have to order larger than expected. I have a pair of cotton, flare legged dickies from about 7 years ago that barely fit over my thighs and butt, size 4x. I thought I should order up. The size 5x is much too big on me. I will keep them because of the draw waist but will be ordering a 4x next time. Like I said, I hold my weight in my thighs and bottom, so to any of you out there around the same size, I would order down. As far as comfort, they are very soft and stretchy. Lightweight and breathable. Able to bend, lift etc without showing skin.
I was looking for pants to work in the woods with, and Dickies have a great reputation as work pants. These, though, are closer to dress pants in material than work pants. They are a thin, almost parachute-like material, that is in no way going to stand up to branches and underbrush. That was disappointing. However, after hemming them up two inches, they fit well, so I'll keep them for gardening and other non-strenuous outdoor activity.
Does no one make real work pants for women? We do real work, too. Some of us cut trees, haul brush, move rocks... We need pants that fit our shapes and hold up to our environment.
There is so much to like about these pants: price, comfortable material, gnerous pockets. However, the drawstring waist is a bit odd. When you tie the pants, the knot tends to sink into the hole where the drawstring exits and it is hard to fully adjust them as tight as you want. (They fit fine in the stomach but I need them tighter in the waist). Despite this, I really like them and want to figure it out. I've only worn them twice so this will take time. They are a bit longer and are wide at the base so I prefer to wear them with a boot style shoe because I find that it is more flattering with this type of pant. If you have a short torso as I have, you will find that these pants tend to sit very high on the waist but if this doesn't bother you, you will probably like these pants.
I bought these for work and they are incredibly long, and I’m 5’7” with rather long legs. I bought the large because I like my pants a bit baggy, but these things were floating on me! I had bought a different pair of Dickies in large and they were perfect, so I guess these just run large. On a good note, the material is very soft and there are lots of pockets!
I am a large woman (430 lbs) wearing a 5XL of these and they fit okay. Maybe even a bit big. But, they stretch when I sit and bend and are quite comfortable. They feel sturdy not like they'll rip. If I was using them as pajamas they'd be great and even at my sit down all day job they work but would suck for an active job. Having 3 large pockets is great for a wallet, large phone, and various other stuff.
A huge plus for me is that my super shedding dog's hair does not stick to these! I've been buying patterned clothes just to cover up the fact that I have animal hair on them. His hair doesn't stick around.
The real issue is that they are LONG. I'm nearly 6 feet tall and they drag about 2-3 inches onto the ground even wearing them at my belly button. They are also very hard to keep up. The tie has some stretch and tends to relax and is difficult to pull tight enough. If you pull it tight enough to stay up when you stand, when you sit it will dig in. Since the tie stretches it can thin out when you knot them and make the knot difficult to take out.
When you take them off, if you have something heavy in the side of thigh pocket near the knee it will come out of the pocket at the slightest lean where the leg isn't straight up and down. They can also get warm and sweaty if you're doing anything in them where it's warm.
I never buy scrub pants because my thighs and butt are always a problem fit for those. I thought I would try again because a coworker of similar size to me said she loves them. Well as nice as they feel and look... they don’t fit me. The size is fine. If I had gotten a larger size they would look ridiculous. The problem is my shape. They are very tight in the thighs and don’t go all the way up in the crotch. I’m keeping them because as I lose some weight maybe they will feel better on.
The fabric was advertised as comfy and stretchy, NOT! The design and cut of the pants were rigid, no stretch or give in the fabric and design. While there was elastic and ties for the waist, there was no extra stretch. They are basically work pants or for scrubs but didn’t fit at the next to largest size which should have been huge! The size guide is not correct as these 3x were really tight and more like an size18 pants. I returned them.
I liked the functionality of the pants. I don't normally wear scrubs - I was just looking for pants with functional pockets, as I am a 24/7 caregiver for my disabled (adult) daughter. I need to have my phone with me. I ordered a size down as all the nurses who have reviewed these pants recommended - and they were too small in the thighs and did not come all the way up over my bottom in the back. Maybe it's just the wrong cut for my shape. Returning.
