I really like the laces. I got them in yellow, although in certain light, they almost appear as a light neon green, but it's an attractive color. But it's true, they do lie flat. The thing is.. I was reading the reviews and because several people said they were too long, or really long, etc., I didn't want a lot of extra lace to deal with, so I ordered the small. That was a mistake. I am using them on a women's size 9 shoe (Reebok Princess style) that has 7 holes on each side (so 14 lace holes in all) and the small will fit in that many, but not leave enough to tie a bow. So I just had to tie a little knot, which isn't a big deal since I don't have to untie it ever. I just slip the shoes on and off. But it would look more natural if I could have tied a bow. But I would definitely order again.. I would just get a size larger.
I bought these due to the lofty promise that I could tie them once and never worry about it again. And maybe that will happen one day. For now here is what I have experienced.
These laces are wide and thin. They are basically just an elastic ribbon with shoe lace aglets (plastic tips) on the ends. The aglets were slightly curved. Looking at their product pictures in various colors, it would seem this happens randomly as some laces have it and some don't.
I purchased these in a size medium and small. The small was 36 inches from aglet to aglet. The medium was about 42 inches, if I recall correctly.
After you lace them up and tie them, you could conceivably slip your foot out and then back into the shoe. The problem is that the laces kind of migrate a little bit and the shoe feels very different when you put it back on. Sometimes uncomfortably different....enough to call for retying the laces.
The only way I was able to alleviate some of the issue was getting help from a family member. I put my foot in the shoes with the laces as loose as possible then he pulled on the laces starting near the toe and going up to the ankle until they were not loose anymore, but....he did not pull them tight either. He only tightened them enough so they lay flat against the shoe. Then he tied and retied the shoes until the tension felt right.
This worked well for awhile, being essentially set to my foot in the shoe, the laces did not migrate for several times worn. But eventually they did migrate again, causing the old issues to come back. So now I just treat them as normal laces and untie and retie them when I wear or take off the shoes. Considering that in the end they did not work significantly better than traditional laces, these just end up being too much money for what you get. Especially since their seem to be several other brands offering multi-packs of 3 elastic laces for about $10.
I've considered trying the Caterpy, Coolknot, and Xtenex laces next. Those may prevent the migration issues due to their special design. Unable to freely travel through the eyelet holes due to how they are made. But I'm not happy with the idea of having to spend even more money. Is elastic really worth $10 for 5 feet? I'm not so convinced.
Work great for my 22 year old son with CP and ASD, as tying tight is difficult for him. Simple and effective. Tie once, slip on and off easily with no frustration. I was wondering if they would stay tied, but no problems so far. I wish the shoe size range was listed on the amazon description. It was on the tag with laces. So Medium is a bit large for a men's size 8 tennis shoe but we just triple knotted and it is working fine and not realy noticeable.
if you ever were losing you mind due to tying and re-tying your child's or grand-child's shoe laces try these laces. my grandson could not keep his laces tied. it always took an extra 15 minutes to get him ready to go anywhere due to tying and re-tying his laces and considering we were already running late due to trying to get him away from the tv or video games he was so glued to, i was about to start getting loud. these shoelaces saved the day (at least partially). they are a little expensive but hopefully we can transfer them to his next shoes.
After a major cancer surgery a while back I was in the hospital for a month and unable to bend over to tie or untie my shoes. Most of the time I wear athletic running shoes, size 10.5 Hospital staff obtained some elastic laces for my shoes. Once set and tied, they could be put on and taken off with ease. I never needed to tie or untie them again. The laces were wide and flat, looking just like the laces that came on the shoes. Also, the flexibility of the laces made the shoes more comfortable. Years later I decided to put elastic laces on all 3 of my athletic shoes. I was unable to find any locally and saw the Yankz laces at Amazon. However, the sizing listed did not give actual lengths. I emailed the company before ordering. I was told that the small size is 35 inches long, the medium is 45 and the large are 50 inches long. My first order was some medium size laces. They were a bit long, but OK. They did not have black available in medium size. I needed one black, so I ordered a black in small size. It was long enough for my size 10.5 athletic shoes, but not any to spare. The laces look just like regular flat laces and I really enjoy their flexibility. I would buy them again.
Love these laces. I run a lot of half and full marathons. Your feet tend to swell a little the longer you run and these laces allow your feet to expand without your shoes tightening due to the laces tightening. Work great! Searched long to find these and so happy I found them.
Since I broke my hip can't put on my shoes for walking. I can get these on pretty well, still have to have help with operative leg, but getting better at putting them on. The laces are pretty and go with the pink on my shoes. They are bright and happy looking and I like it when I put on my shoes. I had no idea how easy this could be. I will be purchasing for other shoes after I'm well enough to put my shoes on. THANK YOU SELLER!!!
I love these because they are flat laces. I use them in the sneakers that I'm too unmotivated to tie and untie, so I just keep them tied and slip the sneakers on. I wear the sneakers to exercise (they are not high tops) and this brand of laces have been in the shoes for about 6 months with no problems. I expect that at some point they will snap from all the stretching to put the sneakers on, but that hasn't happened yet. I wear a size 7 mens sneaker for exercise because I find the width more comfortable than womens' sneakers (I am 8.5 W in womens). I bought the absolutely longest length lace that they sold and I do have extra left over to make a reasonably-sized bow.
