Every minute of 'Romancing etc' is engaging. It’s the story of a frumpy wallflower who falls for a popular man. It shows good and bad family dynamics. The heroine’s mum is a horror show but the neighbouring Bridgertons give her a loving second 'family'. The author also tackles the very issue of jealousy when your spouse succeeds and you don't. A fun plot keeps everything moving along and the mystery of Lady Whistledown is revealed...finally!!.
I like this book but it's not my favourite in the wonderful Bridgerton series. However it's still excellent. I like that it’s emotionally truthful while delivering a great romance. The main characters have a solid friendship before having the hots for each other, and this makes a good book even more satisfying.
Colin Bridgerton has always known Penelope, shes the best friend of his younger sister Eloise. As a friend of the family he has been kind to her when others would not even take the time to notice her. One day he does notice her and follows her to London and discovers there is far more to Penelope that he could ever have imagined. It makes him angry, jealous and insanely attracted to her! He is intent on protecting her from others that could harm her, but he alone has the real power to hurt her.
SIGHHH OMG haven't we all been there? haven't we always wanted the one who is popular, kind and friendly and a secret crush? this is Penelope's life, she has always known him and had a friendship with the family. Colin has his own secrets and it is when Penelope finds out what his is does the sparks between them catch fire. The story is fast paced especially after Colin discovers Penelope's secret. Penelope is calm, kind and collected in the face of Colin's anger. When the source is revealled they work together to overcome fears and to be successful. I LOVE the Bridgertons and their family relationships and this story doesn't disappoint. When Colin needs help there is only one person he can and will turn to - his older brother - Anthony. The story is told from Colin and Penelopes POV and it is an intensely personal as all emotions, thoughts and feelings are described in detail. One highlight for me was Colin's "I love you" to Penelope, it was just the most beautiful and passionate one i have ever read (and i've read alot of books!) the story is compelling to read, and cannot put it down until the extended epilogue! I'm now completely hooked on Julia Quinn's Bridgerton stories!
