Incredibly bright. I LOVE the way in which after a minute or two permanent use it switches to on/off meaning one touch of the switch turns it off. That doesn't SOUND much but there's nothing worse on cheap headlamps than wanting to turn it off but having to cycle through mid beam high beam flashing beam red beam THEN OFF!!. You get what you pay for I guess and this is worth it every day of the week.
I'll be honest, i'm a bit of a torch snob, and haven't bought anything other than LED Lenser torches in quite a few years. I work on the railways and we're forever doing night shifts and working in extremely dark tunnels. This little torch takes 3xAAA batteries (I recommend getting some decent batteries or you'll find yourself in a dim light after not too long). The red light is something to look out for, i was unaware that it displayed this colour upon purchasing, so if like me you're track side, definitely don't have that little bad boy on. But overall a really good head torch and i would definately buy another if this one broke. The torch isn't very heavy, so can sit quite comfortable on your head, and with an adjustable strap it will fit even the larger headed people. Though, if you're going to try like i did to squeeze this around a hard hat, don't expect it to go back on your head afterwards, it defiantly wasn't designed to go that far, but with some cable ties, it is yet to come off.
Trotzdem klare Empfehlung.
Well I bought a cheap headlamp from Amazon which had very good reviews but in the end you get what you pay for. That one fell apart after the first use. Petzl is a well known make and this headlamp simply oozes the quality sadly lacking with the cheaper options. This certainly didn't fall apart when used in anger - overnight carp fishing in less than ideal conditions, and doesn't feel like it ever will. It has 3 white light options and 2 red. A great headlamp which I am really pleased with. I just wish I had bought one of these from the off instead of a multitude of cheap, low quality offerings. Can recommend this as a budget option for all of you carp fishermen out there. Don't go for the sub £10 offerings - no matter what the reviews appear to say!
This is a brilliant headlamp. I mainly use it for running in my local woods where it provides plenty of light to light up the trail. Recently used while running with 2 friends alongside and it provided enough light for all of us. I find it lightweight while running and it doesn't bounce around.
The light settings are excellent, there is also a green light that luminate's around the main LED when you switch it off, I can see this being very useful while camping over the summer.
I've also used it while installing shelving in a dark cupboard, taking out the bins and cleaning the chimney. A very useful tool around the house. It has a real quality feel to it so hopefully it lasts for many years.
I would give this 25 stars if I could. It is superb, and is surely the standard setter for all head torches. I run over fields and down unlit single track country roads and this torch is perfect; light weight and very bright. It also has a red function for nights stargazing. Also, at 24 quid, it's probably the best value thing I have ever bought. Seriously. I like it that much...
Petzl are a reliable name when it comes to head torches, and for good reason. This was a reasonable price, and while having no bells and whistles, it does what I need it to do: provide a reasonable light for dog walking in the dark winter mornings. The light has three brightness settings, and while I'm sure there are torches out there that are brighter or have a longer range, all you're going to succeed doing with those torches is annoy anyone that is approaching you from the opposite direction. This torch is bright enough to see and be seen for a good 30m with a fully charged battery.
Battery life, of course, is dependent on the type of battery you use, but I have found that a set of cheap rechargable AAAs lasts about three or four early morning walks, so perhaps an hour and a half in total, which is fine for my purposes.
The head band is comfortable, and easy to adjust. It fits over a woollen hat well (though you might look a bit stupid wearing it), though you might have trouble fitting it over something like a baseball hat.
Utilise trois piles AAA fournies.
I'm really happy with this torch. Its nice and bright. My old (~10yr) Tikka on full brightness is about the same as this on its dimmest setting.
A well thought out control scheme. You can turn on the dim red light without first going through bright white - just hold the on button for a few secs. Great for discretely slipping out of the tent at night, or not ruining your night vision. Similarly white starts on dimmest setting.
Dimmest setting is good for reading and cooking. Medium and high are good for moving around. Though there's hardly any difference between med & high - really the light only has dim & bright levels.
No blinking mode on white - suits me as I just find the blinking mode annoying, but others might miss it.
Has a soft-edged light distribution, not a sharp light/dark boundary. This is nice - another head torch I own has a sharp edged distribution and it gives a slightly unnerving 'walking down a tunnel' feeling when its really dark.
