So I'd bought the LuxUrux toilet rug and loved it so much that I decided to replace my bath mats with them as well. I couldn't find them in the right size in stock on Amazon, so I looked for alternatives. Wirecutter rated these as the best you could get, and I was pleased to see they weighed even more per yard than the LuxUrux ones.
However, when they arrived, I tried them out, and thought my mind was playing tricks on me. They didn't feel nearly as padded on my feet as the LuxUrux. They looked virtually identical. I closed my eyes and walked back and forth, and the Gorilla Grip definitely felt less padded, less comfortable.
Then I remembered that the LuxUrux ones made a point that their pile is 1". So I measured the pile on each, and as advertised, the LuxUrux were about an inch, and the Gorilla Grip seem to be about 3/4". It apparently makes a pretty big difference. Plus I think the LuxUrux are a bit cheaper. I found the sizes I needed on other websites (ended up buying on Ebay FWIW).
I also imagine the reduced weight may make them slightly easier to wash and dry.
Color was slightly different from what I had observed in the picture, but no big deal. Rug collects and shows dirt rapidly, which necessitates frequent washing. That's the problem. Backing began separating and tearing after first washing, was in tatters after the third. Rug no longer stays in place - one of the advertised feature of this product.
I really love this toilet cover but after one wash it shrank to the tune of not fitting on my toilet lid. For the price, I just wish it could have maintained it's shape. Will be looking for something else as I am going for quality and not appearance.
I trusted the positive reviews on these but I was very disappointed! These rugs are thin and flimsy. They are not absorbent at all and do not stay in place. I used them for a couple of weeks and then took them to donate. Complete waste of money and I bought 4 of the silly things! Live and learn!
Rug is as described but the 'gorilla grip' isn't very grippy. Not a deal breaker for me but considering how the advertising focused on the grip tech ... I expected it to stay put ...and it doesn't. If the grip stick worked as advertised these would be a solid 4 star for me.
