Came out of the bag with waist clasp already broken. It’s not a button closure, it’s like a metal hook closure, but very poor material since it arrived already broken. If I can’t find something at a store this weekend, I’ll be forced to fix these myself with another purchaser’s suggestion of replacing with a heavy duty snap closure. Disappointing, but it WAS on the cheaper side. The material on the inside felt very warm and soft though. And I like the fact that it doesn’t make a loud swishing sound that most snow pants make. I may add to this review after/if I use them next week for a camp out.
Update: Wore them during a camp out in roughly mid 30°s during the day to mid 20°s at night with a pair of skinny jeans underneath and stayed relatively warm. My thighs got a bit chilly but they kept me warm enough. Definitely would need some thermal underwear or fleece leggings under them in colder weather (I wanted the option of being able to take them off once inside and not be in thermal underwear for everyone to see...I was a parent volunteer at a 6th grade overnight camp!). Mediums were a bit big on me, but I wanted to be able to layer...I probably would have been ok with a small though. I’m 5’4 and about 125 lbs and the meds were big in the hips (I typically wear a size 4 or 27 in jeans/pants). Length was great. I tucked them into my snow boots...they’re more fitted around the ankle. The heavy duty snap fastener worked! I had to get a tool to hammer them onto the pants...I didn’t want to have to sew anything. Other than the broken clasp, I was happy with them. I hope they hold up for playing in the snow!
These are fleece lined on the inside— kept me warm and cozy in fierce wind. They are definitely waterproof too. I’d give 5 stars but upon my first wear (while traveling), the button fell off as I was trying to use it. They are not normal buttons so I couldn’t just sew it back on. I contacted amazon, and they quickly offered to exchange theses for a new pair, which I should get soon. Given how great these pants held up, I’m still happy with them despite the lost button. Update: I sent back my first pair and got another pair, hoping that the problem with the pants button falling off on my first wear was a fluke. When I got the second pair, I simply tried to use the pants button while it was in its packaging (didn't even try it on), and the same thing happened. It's an odd button, so it's not easy to fix without cutting a hole in the pants. As much as I like these pants, if I can't button the pants, they aren't worth keeping, so I'm going to send them back. I downgraded my original rating, as it appears the issue with the pants buttons is simply how they are made and I think people should expect the pants buttons to fall right off when you buy them. If you are willing to invest the time to try to fix it (which isn't easy), then get these pants. They are very warm and waterproof-- just very disappointed that they can't be buttoned!
I wore these pants almost every day during pandemic winter 2020-21. Comfortable, warm, nice to have pockets to stow lip balm (pockets not so great for phone but okay for walking but not sitting). I used them inside as well as out in the snow. Worked well in both situations.
I would love these pants if the zippers were just a bit better. About a month in, the zipper came off track. I was able to get it back together. A few days later, the zipper pulled apart. I was able to get it back together. I did this a few times, then the zipper refused to get back on track (zipper would go up and down but the teeth would not align). So now, I have it about halfway up for some closure and wear long shirts.
If it weren't for the faulty zipper, I would happily have purchased more. But based on this experience, I would suggest these pants would be okay if they are used only once in awhile but don't expect them to hold up for years.
Not sure on size so ordered 2 - med & large. Medium fit perfectly but zipper pull fell off while trying on. Amazon sent replacement which fit like a small however zipper pull was much more substantial than first one. Ordered another medium which also fit like a small. Sent all of them back. Too bad because I thought actual construction of pants was nice. There are subtle differences between models - like first one had orange detail which I hadn’t noticed but had stretchy material in knee area which was nice. Second medium I ordered was all black with no colored details but also had no stretchy fabric in knee. You need to read the descriptions very carefully & ask seller if you aren’t sure…I didn’t think descriptions highlighted the differences very well.
After trying so many ill fitting pants, and bibs. Many from REI (online, and in store) I'M 5'1, 105 lbs.Have been trying womens, then kids.Got these in Womens XS... They fit everywhere like custom. Im not curvy,(26/2) so need a belt. The belt w these a joke, but have many spares. Little tight/stiff around the"articulating knees" But think will loosen up.Room f thermals,no problem!Very Hi Quality. Will edit,if not waterproof, fingers crossed. Didnt get to try put till a himing trip ariund Zion area, end of NOV. 2020A lot of histepping/scramblin/slot canyons) These didnt make it out of the house.Could not do a squat. Tried many times, to get a littlr flexibility. No Dice. So these are useless t me,and have never worn. Used my old faithful Patagonia technical winter pants/w thermals.
I really liked the way these looked on, they were flattering for ski pants. Sadly they are NOT waterproof. We skied in both rain and snow. Just sitting on the snowy lift, the pants were soaked through these and my 2 sets of leggings underneath. I had to dry them several times in a drier over the 3 days ski trip (after every time we went out). A plus is u can wash and dry them in a regular machine on delicate. They r tight at the bottom and will not fit over ski boots. I had to pull them above my boots and they were really tight around my calf.
These pants are HUGE. If they didn't run about 3 sizes too big, they'd probably be nice pants. On a personal note, I'm kinda sick of having to shop in the children's department to find clothes that come close to fitting (hint - the size chart is WRONG!). XS is supposed to be *extra small,* not "extra large." *sigh (For reference, I'm 5' 2", 98 lbs - the XS is WAY too big. Too bad it's the smallest size they make.)
For reference, I am 5'6" and 120lbs, average build. I ordered a small. I bought these for a snowboarding trip at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia where it was 20 degrees Fahrenheit. First impression was good. They are stylish and fit well in the legs with enough room for me to wear Merino Wool leggings underneath as my base layer. I paired these with some decent suspenders that held them up the entire time (otherwise I know these pants would have been slipping).
The pants fit really weird in the mid-region. It was too bulky for my hips and butt. I am average build, so not necessarily tiny or huge. Yet it still was odd-shaped. A decent belt helped fix that issue but still it looked a little strange, in my opinion.
The main reason I am giving this such a low rating is the fact that these are not waterproof as they claim. I was hoping to stay dry while falling over and over as it was my first time snowboarding. By the end of the day, I was soaked. When peeling off my layers, everything but the pants remained dry. They simply didn't meet my expectations. They are great for cold hiking or even for a little snow, but not snowboarding or any other activity where you are constantly sitting down in snow.
I bought these pants in a size small and medium so I could be sure to keep the right size. I got the smalls on first, and they seemed a little loose. Not terribly loose, would probably allow for another layer underneath if you wanted to do that. My problem was, the fabric was not stretchy at all. Which made them seem not as comfortable as I was hoping for. And they were ill-fitting in the waist area, in a way that made me look a bit pouchy in the stomach. Didn't even try on the mediums. Might work if I didn't mind the zero stretch, and kept my stomach area covered. Returned both. Edit to add my size because it might be helpful to the next buyer - i normally wear a size 4, sometimes a 6 in some brands and depending on how i want something to fit....i'm 5'7" and usually around 126 lbs. I briefly considered ordering the x-small just to see how they fit, but decided with the zero stretch in the material, i was not interested. I will say though, that the inside fleece lining did feel very nice.
Pros & cons to these pants: I went down in 3 feet of powder a couple times & also did a beautiful snow angel & these pants kept me warm & dry in the snow & the 33 degree temperatures. The fit was about what I expected & there is just a slight amount of "give"/stretch but not much. Unfortunately, before even leaving the house for the snow on the first ever time wearing them out, I put a chapstick in my side pocket & before I even left the house, I noticed the zipper was open again. Nope, not open......busted. Broken zipper & now that side of the pants looks very silly with a big gaping side pocket wide open all the time. Not impressed. Also, though the pants kept me dry & warm on the inside, the outside of the pants were wet to the feel on the ride home. I would not recommend these pants due to the zipper breaking that quickly/easily.
