I got this mat because I go tired of the other ones I had that got little pieces of fuzz all over the bathroom floor. It is smaller than expected but that is my fault for not measuring. It is very comfortable but one warning. Make sure when you wash it that it is totally dry otherwise you will be sliding all over the place. It also retains water and dries slowly. The only other problem is that it moves around a lot, even when it is not wet. Still better than the shedding things I had previously.
This is a great mat! So plush and soft on my feet. The color is accurate depending on the lighting. I got the 22x36 size which was accurate. It does dry fast! I may take an hour after walking over it from the shower. The mat has details on the back to prevent it from slipping when you step on it, important getting out of the shower, yet it will slide when no weight is applied to it, which makes it perfect to vacuum under. It arrived promptly and well wrapped. It is so soft that my cats, who already have cat beds, immediately said "ahhhh, this is comfy!" with a look of utter contentment, now there's constantly one of them hanging out on it - now I know what to get them for Christmas ;)
*Update - Review Downgraded* The mats are now flat, got that way after about 1 year of use. Washing and drying them hasn't helped. They were positioned in front of the toilet and in front of the tub, so not high traffic areas. They now provide the same kind of cushion as a flat rug with some rubber backing for slightly better slip resistance. Even my cats no longer find them as much fun. I tried reaching out to the seller via Amazon with no response. Supposedly they've a lifetime guarantee, that's pretty useless when the seller doesn't respond and there's no other way to contact outside the Amazon portal. The cost to ship them back might be prohibitive to take them up on it anyway. They were more expensive than other mats, so I was hopeful that they would last longer than what I've seen here. If I'd known, I might have gone for some of those rubber on top mats designed for long term support while standing, such as you'd find in a kitchen sink/prep area, since I think the cost is about the same.
Turns out this is the same maker as the one I am replacing which tells me the memory foam will lose a lot of its “memory” in time. I also hate it when items like this come very compactly folded. This means it will likely never fully flatten out and lose the creases. I also hate it when a large, cardboard label is affixed with those plastic staple-like pieces. In some cases, they can be hard to remove if trapped inside the mat and can leave good sized holes. I am keeping the item, but I would have paid more to get a better product without the above described issues (this is also more than I would like to have paid).
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the mat itself. It's thick and absorbent and soft (ish). The problem I have is in the packaging. It's folded into a square and when I opened the package, the mat came out creased and kinked and distorted. I am hoping the creases will work themselves out eventually, but it's been on the floor about a week and that hasn't happened yet. I have less hope for the kinks in the trim around the edge. It overlaps itself and causes the mat to be sort of curved instead of flat and straight. I would think Genteel would be better served if they would roll the mat into a tube for packaging; that way kinking and creasing wouldn't be a problem.
The rug is not only a lot smaller than it appears in the advertisement but when it gets wet it takes forever to dry and it’s just this soggy mess of a bathmat. I feel like in the entirety of owning this mat for a little over a week it’s been wet the entire time. I mean maybe it’s just me but if me and my partner took a shower back to back than it was soaked and I just think that that’s a little unreasonable for a bathmat that’s job is to be absorbent. I wouldn’t recommend it.
The project is out standing. Color is great, it’s soft, absorbs well, no slip, but I have an issue with how it absorbs. It feels gross to me and I know this is personal issue bc I have a textual problem with it. My wife has no issues and likes it. For me I don’t like walking on it when it’s wet it reminds me of walking on wet grass barefoot. It’s a me thing. If you don’t have issues with it textually the. It’s a good match for you. Btw it dries fast.
Just okay. You get what you pay for Honestly I have used better memory foam bath mats. This is not going to be in my bathroom very long. They do not absorb well at all. They are always soaked after someone gets out of the shower instantly and they stay wet (not damp) WET! for a few hours after. They also slide all over the bathroom tile so they can be a hazard if you have trouble getting in or out of a high tub or shower. I haven’t had to clean them yet because we haven’t had them very long but they are definitely made cheaply
I got the 44” long one and it was so tightly folded up I couldn’t get the creases out even after a couple weeks of vacuuming it. It also showed EVERY little thing. I was vacuuming it twice a day just to keep it looking clean. (I got the blue/gray color). It wasn’t even in the location it was purchased for - I didn’t want people walking on it before I decided to keep it. It’s a magnet for all things dust and lint. It never really fluffed up because of the hard creases so I ended up returning it. The color and size were really nice though! Wish it would’ve worked.
The item came folded in half and wrapped pretty tight, and the crease this caused appears to be permanent - it doesn't quite lay flat, and the line is visible. That's frustrating, because if it weren't for that, it would be pretty much perfect. I won't return it, because I love the way it feels under my often-painful feet after a shower... SO soft, cushiony, and soothing. And I figure, why mess with a replacement when I'm sure it would just come with that same crease? I was considering buying another one so I could enjoy the softness in front of the sink as well as just outside the tub. But because of that one big flaw, I won't. That frustrates me to no end!
I was conflicted in giving this mat a rating. I was looking for a mat that didn’t skid as I was recovering from a back injury. This meets that requirement with five stars! However, I have continued to be very disappointed in its absorbency. When I step on it after a shower, there is a ‘film’ of wet that covers it as I dry off. This has been a consistent plight every time I use it. I haven’t returned it because the non-skid quality works so well. there
