When this thing is placed correctly in your chair, it's a night-and-day difference as far as back pain goes. You can really dig your hips into it which takes pressure off your back. The problem is the non-slip base, which might work well on some chair materials, but on mine it's still pretty slippery. It tends to slide toward the front of the chair, and every few minutes I'll need to reposition it to keep comfortable. One other reviewer mentioned attaching coarse sandpaper underneath to improve this, which I'll most likely try, although I'm concerned about how well the thin rubber surface will hold up to that.
The size is OK but I wish they sold a bigger one. I think a larger surface would have a harder time slipping around the seat too.
Finally, some people have posted photos where they're clearly using the cushion backwards, which is pretty funny. It'll probably work better for you without the thigh-gap lump resting between your buttcheeks.
I bought this pillow because I’m in my car 8 hours a day. Not kidding. The right side of my back began to hurt until it became excruciating intolerable pain. Went to the doctor and prescribed muscle relaxers as well as prednisone. As soon as I received this pillow I tried it on my car and sat.
I seriously love it. It’s firm. I’ve had it for a week now and I recline my seat and I feel really good against my back. Of course I have been doing other exercises to relieve the pain but with this pillow the pain does not get worse. My back pain is slowly improving. I can’t say it took the pain away but for now the pain is not getting worse. I didn’t take the muscle relaxers but I did take the prednisone. I’ll see after a few months of sitting on this how my back will feel. I think my car seat was just worked out.
Got this to help with back pain while working from home. I'm petite so regular office chairs are not properly proportioned to my size and I wanted something to also raise me a few extra inches relative to my desk. This fits the bill for that. My only complaint is that the back of the cushion has this split which somehow is not very stable with respect to keeping it's shape and several times I have found myself falling through that and my bottom actually touching the seat underneath the cushion.
I guess depending on your need for such an item, you may find my review disputable. However, for my particular needs it didn't provide the support and pain relief I had envisioned. This is no reflection on this products effectiveness for others, but this is my personal take on the product. I would not be able to recommend this product in good conscious without mentioning the areas of my concerns for pain relief from hemorroidal pain and support. I simply did not find either. The product is well made and the material is worth the price. If they made the incision area larger, I believe this item could be function for many more users.
I have had to travel to do caregiving to family members. I have created a perfect portable office situation so I can keep working. The only issue is that when I am at other people’s homes they may not have decent chairs. Just dining room chairs. I have a bad back and work long hours. This made my life so much better. I need a firm but comfortable seat. This also sits perfectly on my Walker which I have to use since my back surgery. I can sit on Walker seat and work also. I love it. It’s very firm! If you want soft, this isn’t your thing. I can’t sit in soft chairs but also need support. This was fabulous.
This is a nice-quality cushion with a cut-out for the coccyx to relieve pain/pressure while sitting. The front of the cushion is contoured. The firmness and support is good, even after sitting for hours. It comes with a zippered cover, which is nice, however I have not attempted to put the cover back on and don't see a need to spend time doing so. My only suggestion would be that the cushion could be more square with more depth/coverage from front to back. I positioned the cushion toward the front edge of the chair and since it has a grippy, non-slippery layer on the bottom of the cushion, it stayed in place there. It's a great cushion for the price point!
