If you are planning on getting into triathlon (yeay!) I recommend avoiding these shorts. I've been doing sprint tris for about 5 years. I usually get pricier shorts, but thought I'd give these a shot to save some dough. I do know tri shorts have thinner pads than bike shorts so you don't have saggy bum post- swim, but the padding is fairly non existent on these. The extra cushioning is not on the bum where cyclists need it most. They are also saggy when dry which doesn't bode well for them when wet. I don't think these are ideal for a race, let alone a training ride. These are probably OK for basic workouts, but these shouldn't be advertised as tri shorts. I'm going back to investing in mid-range priced / tri-specific brands and returning these.
With most apparel, I'm safely in the medium zone. So I was surprised to see the size chart (in images) correlate my measurements with an XXL. Indeed, for shorts that should be pretty tight, there should not be huge gaps where the elastic bands are supposed to hug your thighs. I think I would like them otherwise, as they seem to be a little longer than others (but probably because they're so big), but I don't know what size to order to replace these since there's nothing to indicate that the size chart is accurate in any way. Maybe I'll just take a stab at the medium. But no way do I have a 22" waist.
