TOP 500 REVIEWER
5.0 out of 5 starsThe single most useful book I've ever read.
Reviewed in Australia on 17 December 2018
That's a big statement, I know, but David Goggins has such a unique, refreshing, and honest way of looking at things that unless you're intellectually and emotionally comatose (or would like to be), you can't help but grow as you read. After decades of conscious self-discovery I thought I knew myself well. Goggins showed me how I only knew the areas I wanted to know, and how the unexamined areas had been mud wrestling me behind the scenes for years. I'm going to come right out and say the one thing I never expected to say in a review: If in your life you're only going to read one book that will mess you up and set you right, you can't get better than this one.

1.0 out of 5 starsLooks like a fake copy
Reviewed in Australia on 14 April 2021
The quality of the print is terrible. It looks like a fake copy. I have compared my copy to the ones at the stores and its different. The ones at the store have much better printing and better quality paper. Avoid this version as it ruins the experience of this book.

Omg if I'd known that this book is mostly about training for ultra marathons, I wouldn't have even bothered to buy this book

1.0 out of 5 stars This guy doesn't feel the worst because he's wrapped in its embrace.
Reviewed in Australia on 4 June 2021
Just like Jordan Petersen this guy totally undermines his very valuable lessons by having a demeanor of abject misery. Sure, you can't hurt him because apparently he's got that well in hand himself. In fact he appears to do little else BUT torture himself.

The story of breaking every bone in his feet and refusing to go to the hospital just seems like death wish and ... gotta say it... hyperbole. I mean I want to see that x ray. Every single bone in his foot? How is that even possible?

There's a lot to recommend in his theory but the man just looks absolutely miserable and totally dead inside. I don't think I have ever had a time where felt has shut down he appears to be. I think I'll pass on the ultramarathoning if it leads to his singular lack of joie de vivre.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional

Starts off with foul language - a real putoff

If your wanting to read about the powers of the mind, then an author that uses gutter language as he speaks to you, then to me, he is not the type of person I would grant any accord whatsoever.

I bought this book because of a friend's recommendation. I recently just started to read this book, and found that it is not original. Definitely a fake copy! Very disappointed! Do not buy from this seller!

He cusses too much and it ruins reading the book. Felt like I got ripped off buying the book . Made a bad mistake even reading book. What a waste of a triumph due to cussing.

1.0 out of 5 stars I want my money back

This guy is really likeable but no super ground breaking story here. He’s just an average Joe like most of us. If you want to know that the book is about, go on YouTube. He’s talking about everything there and you can consume it in a shorter period of time. The author really loves to talk about himself and it’s kind of annoying. Not really inspiring. Whilst I really applaud him for his strong will, I’d want my £5 back if it was possible. This is an ego-book as I call them. Nothing that I can practically take away and put to practice. It’s an autobiography.

Stan
1.0 out of 5 stars He needed a therapist, not SEALS
Reviewed in Germany on 6 June 2020

Just to make things clear: His achievements are amazing and in no way I want to undermine it. However, the book itself is a lackluster.

This was probably the first book that made me think "Why am I reading this?". While it started good and interesting about the childhood struggles and teenage years, after the SEALS part started it was just dragging on and on about the same topics of how he overcame some physical challenge to make himself a bad-ass. I think what would do better in his situation is a therapist.

Also, he says he does not want to give motivation and he hates that, yet after every chapter there is a cheesy check-list with a twitter hashtag. Which one is it?
