Does not protect surface. I really wanted to like this item as I am a long time KC Chiefs fan. But ti does not protect the surface from liquids. I set my cup on the top and after 20 minutes noticed some fogging of the inside. After an hour of drinking iced tea, I checked if the product had worked. Nope! The top of the item was soaking wet and the underside felt was wet as was my table.
