Amazon have sold this packaged with the Echo and stated that you are able to control with your voice. Simply not the case, you're required to purchase a bridge in order to allow that functionality. Misleading to say the least. Both products work well on their own however the voice control obviously requires an additional product very disappointed.
Bummer! Opened box. Plugged into working lamp and switched on. Bulb lit up nicely and looked great... then stopped working 2 minutes later after syncing it with the Hue Bridge. Simply used the Hue app to switch it off for the first time and it never lit back up again. Seems to have blown. Have tried removing from lamp and deleting from app and starting over and resyncing again. The app finds it and thinks it is turning it on and off but the bulb is not producing any light. Lamp still works fine with old bulb. Cannot see any visible damage inside the bulb.
You think you can control these with alexa or Google home! YOUR WRONG! I was confused at first trying to figure out how to set it up with Alexa, then I realized there are 2 skills for hue one with bluetooth and one without! I needed the one with. After that it was working okay ish, but yesterday Alexa suddenly stopped being able to turn my lights on and off, after investigating I realized that the skill to control the lights that work with bluetooth has been removed! Long story short I can no longer do the one thing that I got these lights for! Control them with my voice!
I had some cheaper ones before this, which lasted a few months before flickering constantly. However, they worked great with Google and Alexa. I bought these Philips bulbs as I believed they would be of better quality. They worked with Alexa but not with Google, which is the assistant we have near where these bulbs are. Then one of the two bulbs we have in the living room stopped working with Alexa too. No matter how hard I try, the bulb will not pick up a connection. Even after a few weeks, both bulbs will not work with Google and one of them will not work with Alexa either. To change the setting on the bulb which does work with Alexa, I have to shout upstairs or use the ap' on my phone.
When I bought these lights they worked fine with my Alex hub but in August 2020 they stopped working and you now have to have a Phillips hub for them to function, only another £50 and another device to plug in very energy efficient. I will never buy phillips again as they changed the terms after I bought them, they are just out to make money from their customers. If they can do it once they can do it again. Untrustworthy
Not as advertised. Does not work with Google Home without a bridge even though it says it will work. I was even in touch with Philips Hue and Google directly who are adamant it should work and give me the same old instructions over and over which do not change anything. False advertising at it's finest. This should be illegal.
This is the second set of Philips hue bulbs that have stopped working, they just go unresponsive to Alexa. Standard failure after the return window shuts and the 2 year warranty isn’t honoured by Philips.
I have 2 other bulbs that needed an app to set them up, but they continue to work.
