When assembling the machine, the intructions were helpful and easy to understand. It didnt take long for me to finish assembling it and start making buttons! However, it did take a few tries to make a decently pressed button. The instructions were clear but it was a little hard to distinguish the pictures because they are black and white. Other than that everything is working quite well! The button maker is easy to use and it works smoothly as well.
This was extremely easy to put together! However after I put it together I got a little confused on how to actually make it. The instructions were fantastic, but I was confused with how things were placed. Thanks to youtube there were plenty of videos to use to find out exactly how it is made. The first few buttons I made did not work well and I was getting discouraged like many of those negative reviews I was reading. However I figured out the problem. You need to make sure the picture that you are putting in the pin is smaller than the pin and it holds really really well. I have not perfected the circle cutting tool that came with it...but mine came came a little broken. It still cuts, but it is difficult to make the correct size circle cut out....so I ended up cutitng my picture several times. My kids love having small buttons with their pictures on them, and I made a few of pieces of their art work. There are a lot of pieces included so you can make a lot of buttons, but not feel bad if you make mistakes. Make sure you don't use a picture or something that is one of a kind on your first attempt to make buttons. There is a good chance you will make mistakes your first time. You will be a pro in no time!!!

First let me say once I figured this machine out I love it. I purchased this for the University I work for. We already have a 3 inch button maker but we needed a smaller on without breaking the bank. I had extreme difficulty following the directions to make a button. The directions are not clear. Let me break it down for you if you are having problems.
1. Once it is assembled put your items in the machine for making. 2. If there is gap between the two molds you have to manually push the top mold down. 3. For this portion the poles DO NOT GO INTO THE HOLES. The mold she be lined to where the two outer sticks are not aligned with the holes. 4. When you get to the second mold it should be lined where the sticks go in the holes.
I know that sounds like a mess BUT it will help you. The directions never mention that the holes do not have to align with the poles in the first mold. Overall I definitely recommend this machine. We also have had no problems with the plastic backs. Plus for the price, (our 3 inch with $400 through another company) I cannot complain BUT i would recommend them updating the instructions.
I do not assemble, period! That having been said, I purchased this button machine thinking I could find someone to put it together. When the machine arrived, I was so excited to use it that I assembled it myself. Super easy. Great easy to follow directions. Then the real fun began. I started making buttons right away and can't seem to stop. The buttons are adorable. Note that I did not use the enclosed cutter as I own a 1 1/4" circle press. Two days later: Important fact, Be sure that you only use one sheet of mylar as the button maker will not work with two. The sheets really stick together so carefully check out the mylar each time. I'm still making buttons madly and loving them.
I'm very happy with the button maker and have made 240 buttons so far. I found that it works best if you use a glue stick on your design to keep it in place on the button disk, otherwise it may slide when making. Also, you can only use this to make buttons with the plastic backs like those that come with the kit. I purchased mettal backed button blanks, they don't fit and won't work. This is an inexpensive way for us to raise money for charity and to also give something back to those who donate.
Not the greatest, that’s for sure. I had about a 50% success rate and kept running into problems with the shell not fully crimping around the back. Definitely not good when it comes to making one-off buttons. I tried everything I could think of to fix the problem - making sure the table I was using was level, clamping the button maker to the table, using recommended paper weight - nothing worked and there was no consistency. One button would be great, the next two would be horrible.

The product arrived as promised. Upon inspection all parts were there. Easy to follow instructions for assembly. Less than ten minutes to assemble. Works as stated. Only drawback regarding the buttons is the plastic backs. I would have preferred metal backs. All in all pleased, but have not used in function yet
