Excellent support after technical issues

I purchased this product as I work from home at the back of the house and often miss people at the front door. I have spent about 2 hours trying to set this up. All health checks are operational but nothing actually works as a door bell. What initially Looked like a very expensive not very smart door bell was quickly resolved when Ring Customer Service stepped up. They diagnosed a technical fault with my original purchase and replaced it in 2 days. Great service from Nicole and Louis from Phoenix given in live in Sydney Australia. Once the new unit was unpacked, it was working perfectly in 5 minutes. The team at ring are super professional and a pleasure to work with.

Absolute garbage product

Absolute garbage.

It all started with the “5 minute” firmware update take over 30 minutes on my 100Mbit internet connection.

Next the device seemed to be in some sort of boot failure loop where it would boot, the circle of LEDs would flash, then it’d appear online for a bit and fail again.

Then after three complete resets it finally came online - only for me to find the video stream wouldn’t work despite having a very strong wireless signal on the device and my iPhone.

The application setup process was clunky and felt like it was a very ‘alpha’ product despite being the third generation.

Absolutely would not recommend buying ring products!

Poor performance with Android device and Impossible to get support

The device is functioning okay and has all the claimed video preview etc. It is ringing okay in my wife's Apple phone. I use an Android phone and the ring never comes through. I have to repeatedly turn on the program and check whether someone is at my front door rather than ring in the phone when some one presses the door bell. You don't need such a costly doorbell just for having a chime in the house. A $15 device will do. Probably it is some issues with Android device software issues, but if you try to get the support you go round in circles in automated useless responses. I wish I had not bought it.

Previous system is okay but I find that it gets sent off to easily bypassing vehicles animals things like that nature this is a problem that needs to be addressed also when you set the zones to be monitored it will also detect areas outside of those areas you have chosen I believe this to be a software problem. As far as video quality goes I have over 30 years experience in the security industry and I believe the camera that is on the ring 3+ is for its size and the price excellent

Camera and motion detection too slow to react. The person would have come, left a package and gone by the time we check. Cant record anything unless you pay monthly fees. better invest in security camera or security door.

only 2 out of 10 worked when click to go live, most of the time it takes forever. The wifi RSSI signal strength always around 62 or 61.
No way to turn off the "O" ring LED light during the night when hardwired, which will attract attention.

come back to edit my above original review about this doorbell. Spoke to Luis from Ring, he helped me found out the reason is my current router, Ubiquiti UDM. it worked on a different router. To find out doorbell or router issue, connect the doorbell to your phone 3G/4G hotspot if makes any difference.

have spent lots of time trying to make the ring doorbell work with the UDM router, still have not found any solution, really frustrated those two common brands, Ring and Ubiquiti in the USA have the compatibility issue.
Changed my doorbell review from 2 stars to 4 stars.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my old intercom system for years but kept putting it off as it was still functional and we don’t get that many visitors. Some recent upgrades to other parts of our house made the time right to ditch the old system and go video! Chose the Ring because of its connectivity to my Amazon Echo devices. Getting it connected to the internet and setting up the Ring app is very easy. The physical installation of the doorbell can be more difficult depending on where you’re trying to mount it. Once we sorted out the location and made some repairs to cover the removal of the old intercom, the installation of the Ring Doorbell was relatively easy.

Hardwired doesn’t charge battery

So I bought this video door bell and the hardwired DC converter for it as believed then would never need to worry about the battery.

Well later you find the battery still slowly goes down when connected by DC and eventually still needs to be removed and charged manually. In the help section you then find that the DC “only provides a trickle charge and activity may still flatten the battery”.

So basically they were too stupid to put in this hundreds of dollar camera a battery charger or some circuit to manage this.
