I was really disappointed in these -I always buy size small in American Apparel leggings and usually they fit perfectly. These were big around the thighs and bottom, baggy around the knees and just didn’t fit well. Makes me question are they really American Apparel? They took so long to arrive I couldn’t be bothered to send them back but only wearable for household or garden jobs The nylon tricot ones I brought fit perfectly as expected.
I bought AA winter leggings about 6 years ago and LOVED them but they finally wore out. Got these to replace them but they're not the same at all. These are worse quality, and have a super weird fit. Ankles and knees are loose but calves and thighs fit fine. The wasitband is weird as well, a lot lower in back. And I have no ass, so I can't imagine with someone who does. I'm keeping them because they are very opaque and can pass for pants at my job, and that's why I love them. Nice and thick but not overly so. Just wish the fit and quality were the same as the old winter leggings.
My neighbor & I both have older versions of this legging in small from years ago. We ordered small and medium. The smalls fit but were not BLACK, rather more of a dark NAVY. This was in comparison to both our old leggings as well as the medium style which as a true black. Unfortunately we returned the medium as well because the stitching was bunched on the waist band. I regret not pouring through the reviews; I thought I could trust their older products. I really have to stop buying clothing online. It's more convenient but in the end I am rarely satisfied with what arrives in the mail and I end up wasting time, energy, and negatively impacting the environment when I could just rustle up the energy to leave my apartment, and make sure I get what I want the first time around.
I've been buying them for years - they used to be great in winter and had always fit great. Until now. The fabric is different than before, not smooth, kinda looks like stretchy sweatshirt material. I'd never seen them listed as "stretch terry" before, but that's truthful, just not well fitting or flattering. The pairs I bought in the past weren't like terry, but were a nice, heavier fabric, and they fit smoothly. Now the waistband is strangely much lower in the back (you have to pull them up all the time), the fabric feels cheap and lacks the right amount of elasticity. From the knees downward, they get loose fitting and as a result, they look worn out after the first wear. They also sag and move around on the lower leg, so though they used to be great with boots, now they bag-up at the knees, above the boots. The ankle area is also loose. A smaller size would likely be too tight and since the waist is so low in back, a smaller size would probably expose the top of my backside. Total disappointment after years of prior pairs that were great.
I've had 2 pair of these leggings from years ago when American Apparel had a brick & mortar store near me. I was so disappointed when they closed because these are absolutely the PERFECT winter legging for Oregon.
I was really happy to see them on Amazon recently and immediately ordered some. They are soft, super compfortable and warm, but not too warm. I am 5'1", so the small was a bit long but they look fine gathered at the ankle. These are the favorite clothing items in my closet!
