Bonny has put her heart and soul into producing this book, not to mention hours of thought and hard work.
Some wonderful advice and tutorials here, great for both beginners and the more experienced colour pencil artist.
I am a member of her amazing Colour Pencil Academy and I can honestly say Bonny is an amazing artist, teacher and mentor you will not regret buying this book.

Her Academy & patreon are brilliant….
Learnt so much from her.
Admittedly, people are slating this because one picture us too dark…. But it’s the publisher, & it’s being dealt with by reprinting, with enhanced brightness. Plus it’s now sold out, so you’ll get the better copy.
If you really want to learn, try her free Vinny tutorial on youtube. Once tried, you’ll not be disappointed. Buy this book, it’s amazing, well written, & information overload.
I cannot rate this highly enough.

Huge Disappointment

I very much admire the work of the author, Bonny Snowdon. However, this book is a disaster. As several reviewers have observed, the pictures of labradors (which are necessary in order to complete the Projects) are dark, and provide little visual contrast, which is a great shame. There is English spelling on the book cover, and American-English spelling inside the book. It was printed in China. It is impossible to get over the bad printing of this book, and I am surprised the writer did not demand a reprint. I deeply regret this purchase. This is the first negative review I had provided, despite writing hundreds of reviews for Amazon.

I waited to receive this book with excitement but have to admit to being a bit disappointed when it arrived. Bonny has put a lot of work into this book and her art is amazing, and I love her video tutorials, but this book is badly let down by the quality of the demonstration photographs. They are hard to work from and do not showcase the quality of Bonny’s work which is far better than showcased in this book. She has worked incredibly hard to create this book but i feel that her efforts have been let down by others in the publishing process which is such a shame. I love your work Bonny.

I don’t actually know how to rate this book with stars I love Bonny’s work and her on line tutorials she is amazing. This book was long anticipated and following an earlier delay by the publishers even more so. The end result must be so disappointing for Bonny. Of course her input is up to her usual high standard and the book is worthy of her text but many of the examples to show the processes she explains are far too dark to be of value. I hope the printer/publishers are compensating her fit their poor production

Iove bonny's work, but as others have said, many of these photos are very dark, but in addition to that the majority of the double page spread photos are cut down the middle with a chunk missing! I can't help feeling for her, her publisher has not done a good job here on her first book.

I had this book on pre-order since Feb2021, so was very excited to eventually receive it in October. However, very disappointed in the quaility of the photos contained in the book. This is no fault of Bonny's, its the publishers that are to blame. Many of the photos are very dark, even the cover. Some are slightly out of focus. This is a real shame for a book that was so eagerly anticipated.
I have since reluctantly returned the book, as the quality is so poor, and have purchased it on Kindle instead.

Super talented and always generous with her knowledge and time, this, her first book, packs in all the essentials to start your journey in animal portraiture in colour pencil. I’ve witnessed first hand how novice artists have developed through her free videos and online academy teaching to produce absolutely incredible work. This book gives an excellent introduction into what can be achieved with this wonderful medium. Be warned, it can become an addictive hobby!!!
